What is Naturopathy?

Integrative and Complementary Therapies (including Naturopathy) include a set of techniques used in order to boost the individual's health and preserve it. The Holistic therapist works to promote Well-Being through non-invasive therapeutic methods, aiming at promoting Quality of Life and reducing stress factors and their effects on the body and human health.

Building Health:

Habits and Quality of Life

After all, what exactly is '' habit '' and what is its importance in the context of longevity and health care?

We can define habit as a pattern of action / behavior done constantly for a long time.

What is the value of good habits in the quality of life and how does the construction of balanced habits work in daily life, aiming at treatment and health care?

There are several important points of relevance, which can be summarized in 3 Main: Food, Physical Exercise and Rest.

Balanced food, with seasonal foods, such as grains, cereals, vegetables, roots and fruits, at the correct times (Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner) is essential to obtain an effective and at the same time light digestion (Avoid excesses and betting on diversity and Colorful is a good tip to bring Nutrition and Well-being to the table daily). Bearing in mind that certain foods can participate in the treatment and prevention of diseases, pathologies or imbalances (foods with anti-inflammatory properties, rich in vitamins, rich in fibers and antioxidants), food plays an almost total relevant role with regard to to the habits and construction of Health on a daily basis.

Physical exercises

Why is exercise so important for our health? Through Physical Exercise, we make an important maintenance of the center of our functions: The Nervous System.

The practice of physical exercise is not fundamental only due to body aesthetics and weight control (A consequence of the practice), but it fulfills the main function of Movement, Stretching, Muscular and Cardiorespiratory Strengthening, Activating Blood Circulation and Oxygenation and elimination of toxins through sweating. Therefore, the practice of regular physical activity is a generator of well-being. It treats stress levels, avoids sedentary lifestyle and depression, vitally strengthening the individual and his own capacities of Balance and health, both physically and psychologically.

Directing stress to mild moderate physical activity can be one of the most important ways to avoid somatic disorders like anxiety and depression. Respecting our Biological Clock is the watchword for those looking for a more balanced and Healthy life. Respecting the biological clock and even understanding it can be a '' Guide Map ''.

Pain as an Alert

In addition to Medical monitoring being essential for the treatment and investigation of any symptom of Pain, Physical Activity at any level can be harmful instead of beneficial in certain cases.

The physical educator also plays a fundamental role in the correct execution of movements in physical activities, avoiding future injuries to the athlete and the ordinary citizen practicing physical activity.

Do not ignore the signs of your Body and always seek the right orientation and rest for any sign of pain.

Sleep can be compared to a computer repairman. In addition, sleep and rest are essential for good mood and energy replenishment. Muscles and nerves well rested and relaxed, the silence and the abandonment of worries: these are just some of the components that make rest so important.

If the Human Mind were compared to a computer, decoding, translating and transmitting information, assimilating and responding, together with the Nervous System, certainly for the machine not to heat up beyond its capacity and be damaged, the moment of cooling and shutdown, avoiding overloading information would be essential for its proper functioning. So too, sleep for the Human Being.

During sleep, the brain assimilates all the learning obtained during the day, emptying the stress of constant activity and replenishing us energetically by resting sensory, motor and functional activity.

It is certain that after a certain period of activity, we reach the limit of our capacity: a signal is given to us clearly and it is at this moment that we must sit, relax, breathe, hydrate and respect our own limits. If we proceed, it is like ignoring a Master Communication assistant who avoids many future problems in the '' General Operating System '', using the example of the Machine.

Somatic stress and a dysregulated biological clock also present with insomnia and disturbed sleep, excessive concerns that extend until bedtime, lack of concentration, anxiety, among other associated symptoms that impair quality of life and well-being.

(Aline Pontes, July 2019).

Depression Approach

It can be said that Depression is one of the most complex psychiatric disorders that human beings can face at some point in Life.

Traumatic situations, excessive fears and concerns, exhausting environments, withdrawal from nature, excessive responsibilities, unemployment; in short, many can be the causes for the emergence of Depression today as a disorder of indefinite duration, a psychosomatic reaction that requires full monitoring and treatment, unlike the emotion of sadness (an event or news that causes sadness, being conscious under command emotional assimilation), this being fleeting.

Each person has a life history and different experiences lived throughout it, being necessary the monitoring and listening of a good professional / (Psychologist / Psychotherapist) to detect all aspects of how this disorder presents itself to the patient.

Among the effects of depression, we can mention the constant and prolonged lack of energy and stimulation for action, tiredness, excessive weight loss or obesity, anguish, social isolation, headaches, constant crying for no definite reason or cause, apathy and sedentary lifestyle.

What is the role of integrative / alternative and body therapy dedicated to patients with depressive disorders?

Reconnecting with the body proves to be a good way out of mental problems. This is because body and mind are always interconnected.

There is great potential in light activity, which will act to alleviate somatic conditions, with regard to the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.

So we think of it this way: In the period when the mind rests, the body rehabilitates itself from stress more easily. Much of the neural-nervous balance of the human being is due to good sleep and rest, which is in balance with the periods of activity throughout the day.

Massage relieves and treats tension and stress, helping to dissolve stiffness and tension, contributing to muscle relaxation and stretching and producing a beneficial treatment effect.

The activation of the circulation helps in cellular oxygenation, playing an important role in improving the general disposition of the person.

In the hormonal chain, serotonin plays another important role.

In this way, each therapeutic session is like pouring water and hydrating plants that are drying out: Time, which previously proved to be an opponent to the well-being of patients with depressive disorder, starts to function as an ally to their Well-Being.

Identifying, Knowing and Treating Emotions

Shall we talk about Anxiety?

If we start reflecting, for example, about Anxiety as an emotion very related to experiences over time, such as a movement from the present moment to the future, in addition to its deeper causes related to the points of social and global influence in the sphere individual and collective, adding to the challenges of everyday life, we will find that the challenges and concerns in excess with the future and situations of tension and stress reflect and create the experience of Anxiety.

  • According to WHO estimates, Brazil is the country with the highest rate of people with anxiety disorders in the world and the fifth in cases of depression.

  • Mental health is a human right.

At a certain level, anxiety is considered beneficial, as an emotion that participates in our learning process.

Mechanically speaking, we could say that this starts in the psychological sphere, having repercussions and responding directly to our Nervous System.

How can we treat Anxiety through practice - an intelligent methodology that can be applied on a daily basis in order to minimize the view of a disorder and expand the pedagogical view: Learning?

Let's look at an example of pedagogical practice similar to a Meditation:

1 - Given the initial state of Anxiety, which can be characterized by excessive and accelerated thoughts, excessive worries about the future and the chores, what can we practice?

Gradually return Consciousness to the Present moment, where the environment is physically located.

2 - Return Consciousness to your body and your breath. Breathe deeply.

3 - If possible, walk for a period outdoors, 5 to 15 minutes, paying attention to breathing and heartbeat, inhaling and exhaling calmly.

4- Drink water

5- Sit or lie down comfortably, also getting rid of any extra weight or object, such as cell phones, backpacks or bags.

6- Relax your muscles, from head to toe, let go of tension - Make it your learning object.

The Environment is the cradle of our growth and relationship.

Our body is the temple that makes this discovery possible, which is Life, the relationship. So, imagine that nature, the environment also has a very important role in our lives.

Nature has a rhythm: The Sun rises, Day and Active Life appear. The sun sets, the moon rises and the night expresses a passive aspect essential for the balance of Life.

Through this observation and simple example, we know that this Active and Passive movement has a role of balance in our Planet and represents something a little further, such as a Law that goes beyond our Planet and encompasses the Universal aspect.

Thus, when talking about Quality of Life and Balance, more directed to Emotional Health, we could not fail to recall this essential principle, which is linked to the relationship between Body-Mind, Environment, Balance, Rhythm and Rest.

Respecting our limits, cherishing the Present moment and embracing good life habits and activities that are truly healthy and make us feel good is the way to treat and manage our Physical and Mental Health.

WATER- Did you know?

"The average water distribution in the country is distributed as follows: Southeast region with 450 liters and Northeast region with 210 liters. This value has already suffered an increase of 73.6% of the volume distributed. The UN mentions the use of 40 liters minimum of water per day so that each person can carry out their personal hygiene (showering, brushing teeth, washing hands) and other activities such as cooking. A European consumes about 150 liters per day, while an Indian consumes only 25 liters (BRAZIL, sd) "

In 2013, average consumption per capita was 166.3 liters per day in Brazil, according to the Ministry of Cities' National Basic Sanitation Information System.

  • Other data reveal that an average family consumes about 350 liters of water per day in Canada, 20 liters in Africa, 165 liters in Europe and 200 liters in Brazil;

  • Approximately 1.4 billion liters of water are needed to produce a day of paper for the world press;

  • 9,400 liters of water are needed to produce four car tires;

 Água, Esperança e Futuro "- University of water, Ed. Loyola;

The benefits of drinking mineral water:

- Body temperature regulation;

- Favors blood circulation;

- Participates in good kidney function;

- Preventing the crystallization of kidney stones;

- Facilitates digestion;

- Reduces edema due to fluid retention;

- Helps in detoxification and weight loss;

A Universal Good of Nature

Recommendations are for intake from 2L / Day.

The recommended amount of water for each person should not be diluted with other liquids.

"According to the WHO, a person needs a minimum consumption of 110 L of water per day.

This measure includes food preparation, hygiene and thirst quenching. "

How important is water for life on the planet?

How big is the relationship between the movement of life and the deep relationship with water?

Could these factors be measured?

Water participates in our essential activities in everything that guarantees us good health - from food and hydration - correct intake, hygiene - physical and environmental - local and global, to its importance for the Environment in its broadest context, for climate, agriculture, power generation, etc; Today, the participation of water to promote quality of life is even higher, since we have the modalities of physical activities and the areas of promotion to Health and Well-being (Swimming, Water Aerobics, Hydrotherapy, Spas), in which the physical movement in the water produces a huge difference in people's health, from children to the elderly.

Therefore, if water transcends its role with regard to human use, it cannot be separated from the environment, representing a continuous movement of renewal that enables the balance of human, animal, plant and mineral life.

Therefore, our relationship with water says a lot about our Health!

Often, if it is difficult to accomplish certain tasks with our health, we should remember that we were made in such a way that, drinking pure water and hydrating ourselves should be something as natural as breathing. Once we have reduced water consumption and opted for industrialized drinks aiming at quick satiation of thirst or a greater "taste", we end up conditioning our senses to a certain habit, which will reproduce effects - not only physical, but even environmental. This habit, in the short term, may not produce noticeable effects, however, in the long run, this can become very evident, either in well-being or in general organic health itself.

"According to the Trat Brazil Institute (2012), water covers almost four fifths of the Earth's surface. Of this total, 97.0% refer to the seas and the remaining 3% to fresh waters. Among fresh waters, 2, 7% are formed by glaciers, water vapor and sheets existing at great depths (more than 800 meters), and their use for human consumption is not economically viable. As a result, it appears that only 0.3% of the total volume of The planet's water can be used for consumption, with 0.01% found in surface sources (rivers and lakes) and the remainder, that is, 0.29%, in underground sources (wells and springs). accumulated in the subsoil for centuries and only a small fraction is added annually by rain or removed by man, in return, the water in rivers is renewed almost 31 times annually, the average annual precipitation on Earth is about 860 millimeters. Between 70% and 75% of this precipitate return to the atmosphere as evapotranspiration. "

Recalling Preventive Measures

The Coronavirus Pandemic brings a very clear lesson with regard to its origin: The impacts of the relationship between Man and Nature in a Globalized world. In view of the cause previously mentioned by researchers - Zoonosis, and adding to the evidence on the slaughter of animals in China, including dogs and cats (the cruel slaughter and devoid of plausible structures, conditions and explanations for such acts, illegal traffic of wild animals, such as the Pangolin (animal already in extinction) for the removal of its scales, the manipulation and ingestion of them as a cultural justification of the citizens, shows the aggravating levels of these actions: bats, insects, turtles, among other beings removed from their natural habitats, slaughtered and exploited in various ways for Economic and Cultural purposes.

At the height of the Pandemic, on April 1, 2020, the Government of China issued a Communiqué publicizing the "removal of dogs and cats from the list of animals considered animals for human consumption" and we are in the 21st century.

It is surprising that these conditions were ignored by organs from all over the world until an infectious collapse of this magnitude occurred, affecting the entire Global Sphere and expressing a threat to humanity, as an effect and Urgency for an end to such practices.

Donald Trump, in the USA, points to the origin as an accidental or architected "laboratory manipulation" and proposes investigations that reveal the origin of the virus, an origin with so much evidence: Man-nature relationship.

Still in April, more information for reflection: Dogs can also be affected by a pathology of the gastrointestinal system caused by Coronavirus, a pathology treated for years with Veterinary Medicines. So I reflected:

"Thinking about the conditions, it is clear that the dogs may also have become ill, in addition to the possibility of having contracted the disease in contact with other caged wild animals. Who does not guarantee that, in this scenario, they were not slaughtered and eaten already sick / infected? by Coronavirus? "- The range of possibilities within this analysis becomes extensive.

Nature is talking: the rivers have become clearer, marine animals have resurfaced, the air is recovering and Casa has become a symbol of Resilience and Peace - Conquest and redemption of values. Nature asks for regeneration and encouragement.

Healing is then expressed from the inside out and the outside in. Planet and how Humanity are One and the teaching can be Bigger and even richer for those who can understand the Depth of these things: In a globalized world, the relationships and the effects of decisions have a direct impact on individual and collective life, directly or indirectly affecting biopsychosocial integrity.

May the Creator illuminate the next few days and that we can go through all of this with clarity for the true meaning and dimension of our learning.

Preventive measures will be the light for them, guiding and educating us for the preservation of our health and Life in an integral way. "

Human and Environmental Health

The relationship between Individual Consciousness and the Preservation of Health and the Environment:

Garbage, Consumption, Sustainability and its interrelationships with Global Health.

When we think about Health, we immediately think about balance, food, well-being ... However, we also think about Quality of Life.

But what is Quality of Life?

Quality of Life involves sustaining different pillars that are essential for the preservation, maintenance and the very existence of an individual or community's healthy state. This state of health involves your Physical, Mental, Social and even Spiritual well-being - Your Comprehensive Health.

For a community to obtain Quality of Life and Health, there must be a condition for a balanced, ecologically preserved, healthy and in perfect harmony - Air, water and soil preserved, cared for and free from contamination, since the first fuel essential to the health of living beings begins with the very oxygen they inhale - this includes humans, animals and all forms of life on the planet.

What is the relationship between Consumption, garbage and Health?

If we think about the triad of relationship between Man - Animals and the Environment, we will see that there is no Power relationship between one or the other, but with constant interdependence. This is the first factor to be taken into account.

Awareness with our own health, the health of the community and the adoption of habits and conducts favorable to a Socioeconomic and Environmental Balance involves, first, awareness about the impacts of our actions, the importance of education that thinks about future generations and values Universal Welfare.

Reflecting the Image

The incorrect disposal of garbage is one of the most aggravating factors of the Society in its relationship and consideration with Global Health and the Environment.

According to several studies pointed out by different Organizations, with the current level of global consumption, 4 more Planets Earth would be needed to supply such a high socio-environmental demand, becoming evident the current negative repercussion of the relations between Consumption and Demand in face of a lack of actions of Awareness and Reduction of impacts and damages to the Environment and Public Health. So that there is real change, therefore, it is essential to raise awareness of individual duty, along with an education and guidance aimed at preserving Health and the Environment, aiming at habits that reduce the negative impacts both on personal health and on the Environment, which already calls and exclaims for Attention, Care and Preservation.

Organic Composting Programs are one of the examples that save the Planet from poor management of organic waste and waste in general in large cities. The process of separation and handling of this has the potential to nourish the soil and assist it in its regeneration, in opposition to all other forms of direct pollution.

It should be borne in mind that organic waste is not the same as recyclable waste or any other form of waste. The so-called "clean garbage" and the correct disposal of garbage are fundamental and essential actions for the reduction of pollution in all other stages, in addition to being part of the responsibility of the individual, communities and society in general.

As for Health, it is again clear that we cannot obtain clean air and Quality of Life from contaminated soil, floods caused by the obstruction of manholes due to the accumulative and incorrect disposal of garbage and micro-waste on sidewalks in urban centers and in all places, including the beaches and ecological spaces, together with a high demand for consumption and production of waste, contradicting the balance triad and the human role in these relationships.

"When less is more"

Adopt better habits, such as choosing natural fruit juice instead of industrialized ones, buying products directly from small producers in your region, using natural and dehydrated spices combined with natural recipes instead of spices made up of various chemical additives and monosodium glutamate, overcome and understand a habit such as smoking (and, for this, separately and correctly disposing of cigarette filters, which contain toxins - avoiding the incorrect disposal of cigarette filters on the floor) - are examples of beneficial actions for your own health and for the Environment.

Properly separate domestic waste, not contaminating organic waste with any other materials, separate clean and recyclable waste in an organized manner - These are simple actions and are duties that, in addition to facilitating the work of the other sectors responsible for the subsequent Waste Management, will have essential and fundamental role for the Preservation of our own health and that of the Environment.

Image: 1. Colorful and fresh seasonal fruits.

Here, let's read the relationship between the images:

  • As for the first image, this exposes the need for correct separation of garbage by everyone, since this, just because it exists, already represents an extra element and an object of concern in nature when one observes the full range of environmental problems in the 21st Century - Consumerism and pollution, social inequalities, soil, water and air contamination and "modern" diseases, such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, physical inactivity and smoking. A bottle of industrialized / carbonated drink can contain several additives, such as artificial sweeteners, preservatives, flavorings, acidifying and sequestering elements, in short, they are drinks and foods that, despite being marketed and approved by different quality control bodies, they cannot guarantee adequate and specific vital and nutritional value to people in their different contexts of nutritional needs and health conditions. -> "According to researchers from UNIFESP, the decomposition time of a PET bottle is at least one hundred (100) years." - ( Research source: ).

  • As for the second image, it is clear that, considering levels of environmental health and human health, this gains when compared to the chemical additives, preservatives and plastic packaging that accompany industrialized drinks - Fruits of the season are not only lighter and healthier, but also organic, offering the lowest levels of environmental impact, following nature and its seasons. At socio-environmental levels, the second would also have an essential role in environmental recovery in a Globalized World and in socioeconomic balance, when we think of family farming and rural producers - Large companies and transnationals occupy the territories of different countries, however, they do not always offer Valorização , Conservation of the Environment and Commitment with possible subsequent effects related to the accumulation of polluting residues to nature. On the other hand, the point classified as Positive for these companies would be precisely the generation of Employment and Income for the population of underdeveloped countries.

World Recycling Day is celebrated on the 17th of May, in different countries of the World. We must, therefore, not only on this date - but always - remember the 3 Rs:

To reduce, to reuse and to recycle.

"According to the IBGE, 73% of the waste produced in Brazil is destined for landfills. This condition occurs due to the fact that landfills are cheaper, and the country lacks efficient actions and recycling programs"

Ayurveda :  Doshas e Gunas

1) Vatta - Representa o movimento e o elemento Ar e possui natureza fria, leve e seca.

Estes estímulos e grandes despendimentos energéticos dificultam a Saúde, o Bem-Estar e o Equilíbrio.
